Use Google Analytics for Tracking your Custom Website URL Link

Do you want to generate a custom link for your website and track it? Like track the banner conversions or newsletter clicks? Don’t worry, we have Google Analytics for that, and it’s free.

Go to Google Analytics’s Campaign URL Builder, enter your Website URL and other campaign information. I just entered a sample Black Friday custom link information, you can tweak this according to your convenience.

If you want to keep a banner ad on a website, and if you want to track the conversions, you can mention ‘Blog XYZ’ in the campaign source and ‘leaderboard banner’ in the campaign medium. You can also assign a name for this campaign, maybe like ‘April 2017’ or something. That’s all, these are just UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) parameters and you can name them as you wish.

That’s all. Now you have generated your unique custom campaign URL. You can use this URL in your upcoming campaigns and track your traffic.

This is the link I generated:

You can also shorten this URL and make it as: “

Now you can promote this unique URL, for example, we did this via Newsletter. If you want to track your link, then go to your Google Analytics account > Acquisition (left sidebar) > All Campaigns. That’s all. You’ll find all the details here.

Do try this next time for your campaign URLs and share your experience with us. If you have any queries, feel free to ask us.
